I wrote that just thinking about her.

I was writing my very first album and I wanted to put something on there for her, so I kind of slid it in.

I've written her a few songs, but none of them good enough to actually play out, and "Golden Brown" was one of my favorite things to write, and every time I sing it, now it hits a little bit differently 'cause our family has grown, and now I look and I really mean those words that, you know, it says, you know, "Oh my God, if you take this away from me, I might forfeit what is left."

It's more for my wife.

It's just to tell her how much I love her and how much she means to me, and now, for my son, how much he means to me, that without them, there might be nothing else.

So that's what that song means.
