Polish immigrants build a basilica and Milwaukee becomes the machine shop of the world. A workers' fight for the 8-hour-workday culminates in the Bay View Riot. Socialists clean up dirty politics at City Hall. WWI erupts, triggering anti-German fever and prohibition closes the pubs. Then, the Roaring Twenties and speakeasies engulf the city, and Milwaukeeans go to the movies.
