hi I'm Caroline and I'm Sunita and welcome to cooking raw today neither you know we are going to do just mainly breakfast recipes Edition 8 I know so many people are always asking me Caroline what do you have for breakfast what do you have for breakfast you know I'm used to or they're used to eating like what being bacon and eggs ostrich biscuits and actually I was think about having that last weekend but then we're gonna start off with this fruity Chia I get the fruity part but what's lettuce Chia she is actually an edible seed mhm it is grown in May in Mexico okay it is filled with the same omega-3s that flaxseed does yeah but it's higher in the omega-3 oils plus they're filled with a lot of calcium antioxidants magnesium and just really good for your body Wow yes amazing so let's get started first thing I think what we should do okay is take the chia seeds okay and what are we doing with these about a half a cup of chia seeds take that bowl okay yep I'm in this here pour those there okay so now we did that right so I'm a little bit backwards here so why don't you now take the oranges and the grapefruits and use them yes and while you're doing that let me cut up the pineapple so so how did you come up with this this dish was just you know your concoction that you were just sort of experimenting with it really is one of I couldn't concoctions but here's the thing I was at the farmers market and there was this vendor he had these chia seeds what are these he said she is he's like what are they what do they do yeah and he told me how good they were for you and I took them and just start experimenting with them of course we call this our fruity chia so we're gonna have a lot of fruits pineapple okay so I'm going to go ahead and start juicing the investor though and so where can people typically find chia seeds Oh at your health food store okay mainly and you buy them in bulk I'm assuming they're in the boat area but I don't buy them in bulk I just buy a pound or two at a time so we're doing this dish first because the seeds need to soak what does it need to soak in water it can soak in water but if you want flavor that's why we're juicing the juice okay or the oranges okay have that nice orange okay now why don't you mix it up with and then juice that grapefruit does the does the mixture add like a very unique flavor would it be okay to have all grapefruit juice are all yes yep it's up to you all the muscles let me show you let me say so just do this work it out work it out okay I was afraid all the juice is gonna splatter yeah sure okay there that is okay so now what we're going to do it's just pour here why don't you pour and I'll tell you when to stop okay because we have to list this go ahead on pork pork pork pork I'll tell you let me stop go ahead on hold up hold up hold up let's see and so we really should have had a fork but that's okay so how long do you let this soak you know what all you have to do it's like about 15-20 minutes and then you're gonna it's I really loved it because it had like this little gelatin that seals around the seed okay and it's really good for the digestive system too okay so we'll let it soak up most of the juice then yes most definitely smells good mm-hmm so we got a whisk that really really good and you don't know frigerator to sleep it out on your countertop and just leave it out on your countertop okay and that's it all right okay and that's it we're gonna sit that aside and so at in about 15 minutes it's gonna be this really nice gelatin and then we're gonna add all these other wonderful fruits and we're gonna taste this and let everybody know how good it is all right so great we'll be back with our final product hey Scioscia let's go ahead on and make those my famous energy snack sounds good so did you first well what we need to do first let's start with putting all of our ingredients in the food processor with the s-blade okay so one of the things that i did was i pre sprout sprouted the sunflower seeds the almonds and the pumpkin seeds and these are the pre sprouted sunflower seeds yes yes what is well what I did actually it's just took my sunflower seeds and soaked them in some water overnight okay and then the next day I rinsed them off really good set them in like a little strainer cover them with some cloth and throughout that day I would rinse them and rinse them and rinse them and what what happened is that they will sprout and you'll see like these nice little tails that won't come out gotcha yeah and so that just increases the nutrients because that's what raw food is all about increasing the nutrients and making sure that we still have the enzymes and doesn't lose the flavor nice soaking it in water it doesn't lose the flavor if anything it makes the all of the nuts and seeds a little bit softer easier to chew and easier to digest and increase the nutrients okay okay and these are pumpkin see these are pumpkins also please yeah it's sprouted and then after I sprouted them then I dried them you can dry them in your oven on a very low temperature like about a hundred and ten 115 but I just happen to have a dehydrator so I put them in the dehydrator and spray you need any special equipment some water and some bars of containers okay and so we're gonna use again I spread this quinoa this is the quinoa okay quinoa is really really good it's so like a superfood it has all nine amino acids protein fiber it's just really good and again it's like a seed but then again you see like these little tails once they're sprouted yep yep and quinoa is really easy you can do this and about 10 hours okay and the other ones right overnight okay okay and I've heard of people using quinoa or putting quinoa and salad you can put them in salads and you can even you can cook quinoa - yeah cook it and eat it it's beautiful okay that one this is the chia seeds the chia seeds the chia seeds from our last dish from our last dish yep and you know we're just gonna put some of this again it's giving us all that good fat mm-hmm our body yep the Omega 3 antioxidants calcium all that good stuff our body appreciates this when we do this okay and then again with the walnuts almonds almonds that's right yes that PhD coming in I love it thank you there you go no these did you like soak these at all I did I so same thing okay and this helps to increase the nutritional value yep yep yep and that's overnight - yes dehydrator yes yes and some goji berries and we had some orange juice left over from our last so we can just put some of that in okay and what this does this just gives you a lot of energy in ladies eat lots of goji berries because they're like anti-aging mm-hmm yes oh man - because they need to stay young as well that's true man that's right everybody yeah children put some of that in there okay and then agave well let's see if we're going to need that but let's use the dates yep medjool dates okay and we sleep soaked in yep agave okay it comes from a cactus point really good so we're gonna pour some of that in there see what happens and we're gonna add like a little pinch of sea salt don't ya don't scare me let's see it does and let's just see if it's sticking and it is okay so but do it if it wasn't sticking then you would add more agave mm-hmm and let's go ahead and add a little bit more agave anyway okay just a little bit I should have tasted a purse ah yes oh you did that so well I'm gonna taste this a little bit mmm it has a nice crunch to it oh I'll let you taste it okay I love the color I do I do oh it's from the goji berries right with that sort of orangey tent mm-hmm and you don't need food coloring I mean if you need to look natural food coloring and this looks absolutely beautiful I love this hydrator you most definitely cool it makes them an entire energy bar yes and what's so good about this too is that it already has a crunch mm-hmm that's right like I like crunchy so let's go so we're gonna roll these roll them up take a little bit and then we have what some cocoa powder yep and some dry coconuts yep and we're just gonna make them like these little balls oh that's just beautiful and you really don't need to roll them in absolutely anything but this is something that you can do if you have kids at home they can help you make this they can say oh I contributed dessert you could put these could you put these in the freezer yes yes put these in the freezer in a container and if you did that how long would they keep they probably last a couple of weeks about two or three weeks okay but it'll make them a lot firmer when you eat them yes yes if you're looking for something cold that is absolutely beautiful I like the the way it looks in the coconut and you see how the colors just come through absolutely there are no preservatives in this again this is what I love about raw foods because number one it tastes good it nourishes yes any cleanse cleanse operative word Glen hey okay yeah I think this is beautiful and let's just do one like that awesome I think that it's nice so there you have it our fruity no this is just our energy energy energy snack energy snacks but if you want to call the crew d hey Frew dried fruit in there that's right that's right that's right absolutely delicious yes they were in festive looking absolutely so you can have them for breakfast you can have it as a snack you can have them desserts have them any time so now what we're going to do is make our sprouted cereal most definitely it looks like we're using some of the same ingredients that we used for its energy snack again let's use the same ingredients wouldn't have to go out and buy new stuff expensive let's just stick with us okay so in taste we have these are unspotted yep sunflower seeds sunflower seeds and I'll put some of those in there and then here's some whole oats we're gonna pour some of those in there okay and this is our sprouted quinoa now this is what the King Juan as a sprout and we didn't I didn't dry them and you see the little sprouts the tail yeah it's now a superfood so that's about 10 hours to sprout yes okay yes put that in there I do okay no pumpkin seeds yes put some of those in there they've soaked not dried put those in there the enzymes are healthy a little sea salt a little sea salt and then or chia seeds chia seeds chia seeds our good fat and then let's just go ahead on and add a little gobby and why don't you sprinkle a little coconut in here try coconut dry coconut this is so easy yeah yeah yeah okay now while I'm doing this okay we're gonna do this right are we just going to post this fast that was easy that was what five seconds five seconds to a healthy cereal to a healthy cereal I mean awesome now how would you store that again you can everything you can put in the refrigerator this would probably last like a day or two about two days okay if you put it in the refrigerator again you probably couldn't a couple more things and then if you wanted to you can again make this as an energy snack as well and one of the things I've been doing this a lot too because I've been working out and it's good to have a little protein and this is filled with proteins and good fiber and good everything good good fat and it doesn't weigh me down it doesn't make me tired so we're gonna spoon a little bit of this in here and I just love the aroma too that is just beautiful right so this is our cereal and then when I think of cereal think of milk right so are we gonna what it's worse I'm not gonna come from but we're gonna we're gonna do a combo this time okay let's do milk from sesame seeds and almonds that sounds interesting and delicious okay so what do we need to do to make so what we have is about 1/4 cup of sesame seeds and about a half a cup of almonds yep blender and add like about 3 cups of water 3 cups this is 2 cups so many cups of that over there actually it's about four cups more yeah okay and we've got a little bit of sea salt okay go ahead and now just blend that nice and easy milk milk filled with calcium good fat right there right fiber okay so take this off take that off and then we're going to strain it a little bit because some people may not like all that fiber but it's okay to use but it definitely yep that is absolutely else really good really yeah yeah so you got that and then you can just do one of these little things here stir to add you know also but that's good but you can make this milk just with almonds only or sesame seeds only you don't have to here alright so if you want to you can just sit that strainer on top of here okay milk we have our milk Nerio let's just and you can go ahead and pour some milk on top of that okay I can't wait to taste this I can't either oh is that enough for you I think so so what about let's garnish it with some raisins and some fresh raspberries fresh raspberries kids will love this absolutely looks like make your own breakfast right and if you want a little bit of extra coconut Oh Christmas time beautiful so time for sampling time for sampling okay I can live with this delicious mm-hmm-hmm that's really good very healthy mm-hmm and it's really easy to do absolutely that spot of Syrah was absolutely delicious absolutely with the sesame seed and almond milk can't beat it the bomb diggity so now what we're going to do is make this absolutely delicious chocolate smoothie using again some of the same ingredients that we've used already yeah don't have to go to the store there's gonna be a different taste filled with nutrients fiber just good stuff so again I have our sesame seed and almond milk yep okay we're gonna use that okay then why don't you peel some bananas to put in there we need about four bananas for bananas in there I hope yeah and when I make smoothies actually I think you taught me this to get them really ripe you can put them in the freezer yeah they're really good they come out like they're really fattening ice cream that you would buy that's really soft anyway this is so much better so we actually use five bananas but that's okay okay so we're going to also put some ice in here to give it that nice chill thick flavor or consistency and we're gonna use just a little bit I love it I love it I love it ah now that I know how good she is these are that anything is you salted a soup yep and a little sea salt bring out the flavor and you don't have to add seize all the sisters right okay so okay we add the agave let's go ahead on and blend this up okay let's see what happens so that's good well I wish it was a little bit thicker well it's gonna make them think all right no not thick like I want them thick thick but it's good okay I was at the rest of this eyes do we need the GAVI um I don't think so yep ginger - oh thank you please that's a ginger now that is an interesting ingredient oh I love your smoothie yes ginger ginger ginger I love ginger and it's good to me so I use that so why don't you use this moment taste and tell me what he what do you think that's really good so I blend it more you think that's good I think it's perfect well let's go ahead on since it's more of a smoothie and I didn't have you know we're just gonna drink this then one for you and one for me wow I didn't know chocolate could how it gelled up so now all we have to do is just take some of this our chia seeds put it in there and garnish it with fruit fresh fruit and dried fruit and dried fruit so how about I love pineapples
